Other comments: Maia is spoken by approximately 4,500 speakers in Bogia district, Madang province, Papua New Guinea. Maia numerals have a mathematical base of five (based on the hand) up to ten. Nowadays, the Maia people have become used to the Pidgin / English numbering system and normally use this system with specific numbers past ten, and quite often with numbers past five. |
