Other comments: Kwomtari has a six-cycle counting system. The original meaning for 20 is unknown. Traditionally marking number of days to a certain event or number of people or items was done using a coconut leaf and breaking the 'bones' each day. Kwomtari is spoken by about 800 speakers in 6 villages, north of Namia, Amanab district, Sandaun province, Papua New Guinea. |
