Other comments: Ewage-Notu is spoken by about 10,000 speakers in three separate coastal regions of Holnicote Bay around Gona and Buna. The other two regions lie on the opposite shores of Dyke Ackland Bay, Oro province, Papua New Guinea. Ewage-Notu system appears to have a (5) cyclic pattern and a frame pattern (1, 2, 3, 5) and is very similar to the Binanadere and Ambasi systems. According to the SIL data, 4 is obtained by subtraction, i.e one hand with the thumb held down. 'ingo giti pasido'. The number words for 5 to 10 are respectively 'ingo da' and 'ingo etoto', i.e 'hand one' 'hands two'. |
