Other comments: Bunak is spoken by approximately 97,000 speakers in Ainaro district, Bobonaro district, Cova Lima district on Timor island central interior, East Timor as well as Indonesia. Bunak is distantly related to Makasae and Fatakulu. Bunak has a decimal system, the numbers 7, 8, 9, 100 and 1000 are borrowed from Austronesian. The second set of numbers with an asterisk were from the Marae dialect. |
