Feature Annotation

Many languages use a special conjoining construction (i.e. ’and’ construction) when one of the conjuncts is a personal pronoun (especially a personal pronoun of the first person). Our specific question in this feature is: How does the language express ‘I and PN’ (where PN stands for a personal name) in subject position, e.g. Mary and I went home.
Note that the conjoining word is often the same as the comitative ‘with’ (e.g. Guinea Bissau CP ami ku Maria ‘Maria and I/Maria with me’). The difference between ‘and’ words and ‘with’ words is irrelevant for this feature (see feature 71). Also, word order is irrelevant here (’I and Mary’/’Mary and I’).
For this feature, please consider only conjoining with
first person pronouns (second and third person pronouns sometimes behave differently).
If you do not find an example in which the second conjunct is a personal name, you may substitute a common noun phrase. We are not aware of languages in which a special construction is used with personal names as opposed to other person nouns, but it is usually simpler to work with personal-name examples.
If your language allows several ways of saying ‘Mary and I’, choose several values and indicate the relative importance.
