Feature Annotation

Ditransitive constructions with the verb ‘give’ have an agent/subject (S), a recipient (R) and a theme (T) argument (see also Feature 60, on argument coding in ditransitives). Here we ask about the order of the recipient (R) and the theme (T) argument with respect to the subject (S), the verb (V) and each other.
Only constructions in which both recipient and theme are
full NPs are taken into account, i.e. the order with pronominal objects is disregarded.
Only the verb
‘give’ is considered (other ditransitive verbs sometimes show different behaviour).
If the language has several possible orders (e.g. English
I gave John a book/I gave a book to John), you may select several values.
